Dallas – Fort Worth Computer Science Teachers Association (DFW CSTA) represents about 200 computer science teachers in our region.  Many of our members are the only computer science teacher in their school and/or district.  One of the missions of DFW CSTA is to provide professional development opportunities throughout the year.

Support from our community allows us to plan professional development opportunities for teachers without having to charge much of a registration fee to teachers.  Our goal is to raise an annual budget of at least $5000 to fund ongoing professional development for our computer science teacher members.

Contributions from our community provides us funding to plan events for students, such as our annual Digital Divas event targeted at girls in the DFW region.  Grants and donations allow us to reduce the cost to participants for registration fees.  Our goal is to raise at least $15,000 to offset the cost of our Digital Divas event.

Professional Development Events

Mini Workshops

Mini Workshops are planned once or twice per year with a specific topic in mind.  Our most recent Mini Workshop was a Java Cyber Security Workshop.

Collaborative Conference

Each year we plan the DFW CSTA Collaborative Conference for computer science teachers and administrators in our region.  This event allows us to offer a variety of sessions along with a keynote speaker.

Summer Forum

The DFW CSTA Summer Forum is held each July.  The DFW CSTA Summer Forum allows teachers who are new to our content and/or teaching to learn from our veterans.  During this half-day event, our veterans bring tips and resources to help build teacher toolboxes for the upcoming year.

Student Engagement Event

Digital Divas

This event is targeted at girls in the DFW area to engage them in computer science related workshops and competition.  In the past, we have targeted high school aged girls from diverse backgrounds across this region.  This event impacts 250-300 girls in the DFW region.  With more funding, we will be able to increase the target age to include middle school students.

Sponsorship Level

All corporate sponsors will have their name listed on our website and event materials.

In Kind Gifts

We will accept in kind gifts such as curricular resources, content expert training, or tools for a computer science classroom.  These would be given away as door prizes to participants.

Bronze

A donation of $100 allows us to invest in professional development supplies such as folders, name tags, printed materials, and other needed supplies.

Silver

A donation of $250 allows us to plan a professional development workshop without needing to pay a content expert.

Gold

A donation of $1000 allows us to provide a professional development event that includes the cost of a content expert and related supplies for the event.

Platinum

A donation of $2500 allows us to invest in additional professional development resources, the cost of a content expert, and feed participants during full day events.

Diamond

A donation of $5000 allows us to invest in more professional development events, bring in various content experts to the DFW area, and feed our participants during full day events.
